Benjamin Massingille, 21, of Kentucky, United States has been arrested. He was charged with first-degree unlawful imprisonment, first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy.

Massingille is a student of Western Kentucky University (WKU) in Bowling Green, Warren County, Kentucky. He was officially welcomed by the university’s Eta Rho chapter of the Sigma Nu fraternity on October 25, 2020.

The Commonwealth of Kentucky founded WKU in 1906. Originally founded as OKA ’55, Sigma Nu is the oldest and largest fraternity at the university.

On February 27, 2021, WKU police officers were dispatched to TriStar Greenview Hospital in Bowling Green in reference to a woman who claimed she was sexually assaulted by Massingille, WKBO reported. She said the assault happened in his room at the Sigma Nu house in WKU.

According to the woman, she and Massingille had a verbal argument. She said he was intoxicated and angry so she sent text messages to a friend asking the friend to pick her up because she was scared.

The woman added that Massingille pushed her on his bed, took his pants off and raped her. Neither WKU nor Sigma Nu has released a statement about the incident.

Before attending WKU, he went to Monroe County High School in Tompkinsville, Monroe County, Kentucky where he was a member of the varsity basketball team as a forward. In seventh grade, he was the class president.

In 2018, Massingille graduated from high school. He stands 6’1″, weighs 160 lbs and hails from Tompkinsville.

Tompkinsville is the county seat of Monroe County. The city was named after sixth U.S. vice president Daniel D. Tompkins while the county was named after fifth U.S. president James Monroe.

  1. It is a shame this young man has such disrespect for a woman. Makes me wonder what kind of
parents did he have or not have. He has disgraced not only his name, is family and the names of his entire fraternity brothers. I am a sorority alumni myself. I don’t blame the entire fraternity but, this young man needs help. Thank goodness this young woman had the courage to cry out for help and report this to the police. We should all pray for him and everyone affected by this
    incident.
