Ronald Greene biography: 13 things about Monroe, Louisiana man

Ronald A. Greene was an African-American man from Louisiana, United States. He died while in custody of Louisiana State Police troopers.

“Okay, okay, I’m sorry,” Greene told the officers hours before his death. “I’m scared. Officer, I’m scared, I’m your brother, I’m scared.”

  9. On May 10, 2019, he was driving a silver Toyota on his way to meet his wife in Florida. Shortly after midnight, Louisiana State Police troopers Dakota DeMoss, Chris Hollingsworth, Kory York and Lieutenant John Clary stunned, punched, choked and dragged him as he apologized for leading them on a high-speed chase along a highway in Monroe. He later became unresponsive and died on his way to the hospital, according to the Louisiana State Police’s Criminal Investigations Division.   10. He died at the age 49. In 2020, Union Parish Coroner Renee Smith said his death was ruled accidental and attributed to cardiac arrest. The autopsy said he died due to cocaine induced agitated delirium complicated by motor vehicle collision, physical struggle, inflicted head injury and restraint and lacerations on his head were inconsistent with motor vehicle collision injury but are most consistent with multiple impact sites from a blunt object. On May 6, 2020, his daughter Tayla filed a wrongful death lawsuit against DeMoss, Hollingsworth, York, Clary, Captain John Peters, Sergeant Floyd McElroy and Deputy Sheriff Christopher Harpin and three unknown manufacturers of the electronic control weapons used by the officers during his fatal arrest on May 10, 2019.
