Izzac Lawhorn, 19, of Mansfield, Richland County, Ohio, United States has been arrested by the Mansfield Police Department. He was charged with felonious assault.
Wearing a dark-colored hoodie with a light-colored front pocket, Lawhorn allegedly entered an apartment on Brookfield Drive in Mansfield at around 7:20 a.m. on June 3, 2021. He allegedly stabbed a woman, 74, inside the apartment more than 30 times.
The victim, whose name was not released, was lying in her bed when she was attacked. She was rushed to a local hospital where she was treated for her injuries.
With the help of the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVTFT), the Mansfield Division of Police and Major Crimes detectives arrested Lawhorn at around 8:00 a.m. on June 12, 2021 in an apartment on E. Cook Road in Mansfield. He was booked into the Richland County Jail in Mansfield.
It is believed that Lawhorn acted alone during the assault on June 3, 2021. While he has been cooperative with the investigation and has provided detectives with a statement about his actions during the assault, the Mansfield Police Department is not releasing any additional details about his statement due to the ongoing investigation.
