Representing Croatia, Mia Rkman finished in the Top 20 at Miss Universe 2019. It is the fourth and most recent placement of the European country in Miss Universe.
The first one was in 2009 when Sarah Ćosić finished in the Top 15. It was followed by the Top 16 finish of Elizabeta Burg and Shanaelle Petty in 2012 and 2017, respectively.
On May 13, 2020, Mirna Naiia Marić won Miss Universe Croatia 2020 at the Hrvatska Radiotelevizija (HRT) Studio in Zagreb. She competed against 18 other candidates.
On May 16, 2021, Marić represented Croatia at Miss Universe 2020 and competed against 73 other candidates at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Broward County, Florida, United States. She was unplaced.
On May 24, 2021, Maric turned 22. She was born and raised in Zadar, Croatia.
On July 14, 2021, Marić went to the Esplanade Hotel in Zagreb and crowned Ora Antonia Ivanišević as the next Miss Universe Croatia. The latter will represented Croatia at Miss Universe 2021.
