Marcus Danta Batson, 32, of Spartanburg, South Carolina, United States has been arrested by the Spartanburg Police Department. He was charged with two counts of murder.
Batson is accused of beating his fellow Spartanburg residents Ronald Glenn, 73, and Matthew Booker Jr., 56, to death sometime between July 5, 2021 and July 6, 2021. At around 11:50 a.m. on July 8, 2021, Glenn and Booker were found dead in a residence they shared with Batson on Winsmith Avenue in Spartanburg when the Spartanburg Police Department conducted a welfare check.
“I’m really hurt about it because this is a good neighborhood,” Batson, Glenn and Booker’s neighbor Donnie Miller told Fox Carolina. “I mean this is a middle class area that we live in and we just don’t have stuff like this happen on this area like that.”
At around 1:30 p.m. on July 30, 2021, Spartanburg Police Department officers located and arrested Batson. He was booked into the Spartanburg County Jail.
This is not the first time Batson was arrested. On June 10, 2013, he was arrested in Spartanburg for providing false information to a police officer.
