Originally from Brazil, Jonathon dos Santos, 36, has been working full-time in Ireland for several years. On June 6, 2021, he went to the public men’s room in a Marks & Spencer department store on Mary Street in Dublin, Ireland and masturbated there.
Dos Santos allegedly engaged in public masturbation that was witnessed by plainclothes Gardaí that day. On July 7, 2021, he was charged with masturbating at the men’s toilets in the Marks & Spencer store and he made no reply when charged under the Sexual Offences Act, Garda John Timmons told Dublin District Court.
On September 2, 2021, dos Santos pleaded guilty to masturbating at the men’s toilets in the store. He was handed a €400 ($474.36) fine and was spared a jail sentence.
It had been a traumatic experience for dos Santos, according to his defense solicitor Paddy McGarry, who pleaded for leniency. The solicitor told the court that the Brazilian man was apologetic to everyone over his actions.
Undercover officers had placed the toilets of the Marks & Spencer department store on Mary Street in Dublin under surveillance to investigate claims some men were involved in public sex acts there before dos Santos was caught masturbating there. Prior to this, he had no other convictions in Ireland.
On June 16, 2021, Bruno da Silva, 31, grabbed an undercover Garda’s backside while exposing himself during an undercover Garda surveillance operation at the men’s toilets in the same Marks & Spencer store. He is Brazilian.
Da Silva is married. He works as a chef and lives in Fort Ostman, Crumlin, Dublin.
On July 6, 2021, da Silva pleaded guilty to masturbating and engaging in offensive conduct of a sexual nature. He was granted bail.
From Brazil, da Silva moved to Ireland in 2018. He and dos Santos have been ordered to stay away from the Marks & Spencer department store on Mary Street in Dublin.
Marks & Spencer is headquartered in London, England, United Kingdom. The retailer was founded in 1884 in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England by Michael Marks and Thomas Spencer.
