Bradford Minkoff, 62, of Palo Alto, California, United States has been arrested by the Palo Alto Police Department. He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and child abuse, which are felonies, and creating a disruption on a school campus, which is a misdemeanor.
At around 12:28 p.m. on September 3, 2021, Minkoff allegedly shot an air rifle onto Stratford School, an elementary school on North California Avenue in Palo Alto. He allegedly fired a single shot, which struck a student in the back during lunch on the athletic fields of the school.
The Palo Alto Police Department officers who responded were able to recover the air rifle from Minkoff’s Palo Alto residence. He was arrested without incident shortly before 2:00 p.m. and was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail in San Jose, California.
Authorities are still investigating the motive behind Minkoff’s actions. However, they said they did not think the Palo Alto resident intentionally targeted the Stratford School student although they have reason to believe the suspect intentionally discharged.
