At Met Gala 2021, Billie Eilish wears Oscar de la Renta gown, looks like Marilyn Monroe

Billie Eilish, 19, was one of the musicians who attended the annual fundraising gala for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City, New York, United States on September 13, 2021. The institute’s newest exhibition will be open to the public in the museum’s Anna Wintour Costume Center on September 18, 2021.

With the theme “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” the event was chaired by Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, 71. Eilish was appointed co-chair along with Timothee Chalamet, 25, Naomi Osaka, 23, and Amanda Gorman, 23.

On the red carpet, Eilish wore an Oscar de la Renta gown that made her look like by Marilyn Monroe. The dress was partially inspired by the holiday Barbie dolls she always wanted for Christmas when she was younger, she told Vogue red carpet co-host Keke Palmer, 28.

The light peach ball gown, which featured a corset. To complete the look, Eilish paired 30 pieces of Cartier with red lipstick and short blonde hair.

Five people carried the gown’s 15-foot train as Eilish walked up the museum’s steps. The gown’s color matched exquisitely with her hair, which is naturally blonde.

Unlike Eilish, Monroe was not naturally blonde. Monroe’s hair was actually brown although she was known for her blonde hair paired with her signature red lipstick.

In 1953, Monroe and Jane Russell starred in the musical comedy film “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.” Monroe’s last film “Something’s Got to Give” was shot in 102 but was abandoned after her death on August 4, 1962.

Monroe is one of the celebrities who remained as fashion icons posthumously. She has influenced several musicians and artists including Andy Warhol and Madonna, 63.

Both Monroe and Eilish were born in Los Angeles, California, USA. Eilish’s parents Patrick O’Connell, 64, and Maggie Baird, 62, are both actors.

On July 30, 2021, Eilish released her second studio album “Happier Than Ever,” whichh was recorded in her brother Finneas O’Connell‘s home studio in Los Angeles. The album has 16 songs including “NDA,” Not My Responsibility” and “Oxytocin.”
