Aisha Harumi Tochigi (杤木 愛シャ 暖望) of Chiba, Japan competed against 37 other Miss Universe Japan 2019 candidates at Yamano Beauty College in Yoyogi, Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan on August 22, 2019. She finished in the Top 5.
On October 29, 2020, Tochigi competed against 29 other Miss Universe Japan 2020 candidates at Yamano Hall in Shibuya. She won the title.
Miss Universe Japan 2021
On September 22, 2021, Tochogi will crown her successor in Tokyo. It is the 24th edition of the national beauty pageant that selects Japan’s Miss Universe candidate.
Currently, Japan has 19 Miss Universe placements, including two crowns. Representing the East Asian country, Akiko Kojima and Riyo Mori won the title in 1959 and 2007, respectively.

Japan was represented in Miss Universe by the winner of Miss Japan from 1952 to 1995 and Miss Universe Japan since 1998. Hiroko Mima has been the national director of Miss Universe Japan since 2018.
Born to a Ghanaian father and a Japanese mother, Tochigi is the second Miss Universe Japan of mixed race. The first one was Miss Universe Japan 2015 Ariana Miyamoto (宮本 エリアナ) of Nagasaki, Japan, who was born in Sasebo, Nagasaki to an African American father and a Japanese mother.
On May 16, 2021, Tochigi represented Japan at Miss Universe 2020 and competed against 73 other candidates at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida, United States. She was unplaced.
