Who is the incumbent mayor of Syracuse?

Benjamin Walsh is the 54th and incumbent mayor of Syracuse. He assumed office on January 1, 2018.

Born and raised in Syracuse, Walsh graduated from Westhill High School in Syracuse in 1997. He earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York and his master’s degree in public administration from Syracuse University in Syracuse.

Walsh is the first independent mayor of Syracuse. He is the city’s second mayor without major party support following Louis Will, who was elected in 1913.
