The general election for the 40th mayor of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington, United States took place on November 2, 2021. The candidates are Victoria R. Woodards and Steve Charles Haverly.
Founded in 1872, Tacoma was incorporated on November 12, 1875. It was named after Mount Rainer, a large active stratovolcano also known as Tahoma.
The Museum of Glass is located in Tacoma. The city is home to Annie Wright Schools, Bates Technical College, Evergreen Lutheran High School, the University of Puget Sound and the University of Washington Tacoma.

Victoria Woodards
Victoria R. Woodards is the 39th and incumbent mayor of Tacoma. She assumed office on January 2, 2018.
An alumna of Lincoln High School, Woodards worked for the Tacoma Urban League in Tacoma as an executive assistant to the president from March 1993 to December 1997. She worked for the Pierce County Council in Tacoma as a council member assistant from December 1997 to December 2011.
Woodards was a city council member in Tacoma from January 2010 to December 2016. She was the president and chief executive officer of the Tacoma Urban League from January 2011 to March 2017.
Steve Haverly
A lifelong resident of Tacoma, Haverly has owned a video production company and has never held public office. He works in construction management.
Aside from Tacoma, Haverly has lived in other parts of Washington including Gig Harbor and University Place. He was the commercial and residential superintendent at Rush Construction from June 2002 to June 2006 and the director of construction at Gateway Capital.
Haverly founded SC Development in June 2008 and Triple ONE Productions in February 2011 both in Tacoma. In November 2020, he turned 52 and in March 2021, he joined Westmark Construction in Tacoma as a general superintendent.
