Gaige Paul Grosskreutz of West Allis, Wisconsin, United States was one of the men shot by Kyle Rittenhouse on August 25, 2020. They were in the same Black Lives Matter demonstration in Kenosha, Wisconsin that day.

During the demonstration, Rittenhouse was one of the armed civilians who wanted to protect businesses from vandalism. Grosskreutz was one of the protesters demanding justice for Jacob Blake, who was shot by Kenosha Police Department officer Rusten Sheskey in the back at least eight times on August 23, 2020.

With a PARAMEDIC cap, a medical bag and a handgun, Grosskreutz volunteered as a medic earlier that night. He was part of the People’s Revolution Movement, a social justice group based in Milwaukee, and attended the demonstration with the group.

Carrying a Smith & Wesson AR-15 style .223 rifle, Rittenhouse fatally shot two protesters namely Joseph D. Rosenbaum and Anthony M. Huber. Grosskreutz held his handgun in his right hand as he approached Rittenhouse, who then shot Grosskreutz’s right arm.

While wounded, Grosskreutz told those helping him to apply a tourniquet to stop the bleeding. He was rushed to a hospital in Milwaukee where he underwent reconstructive surgery.

Wenzel Media LLC owner Patti Breitigam-Wenzel organized a GoFundMe fundraiser for Grosskreutz. She has known him since 2011 and considers him as a son and told the Chicago Sun Times that he has “always been someone who’d help out his friends and give them the shirt off his back if he has one.”

  1. Aside from West Allis, he has lived in different parts of Wisconsin including Hales Corners, La Crosse, Ashland and Milwaukee.
  2. He previously worked as a special events coordinator, a wilderness medical instructor and a sea kayak guide at Lost Creek Adventures, a full-service paddling outfitter in Cornucopia, Wisconsin that also offers courses in outdoor skills, wilderness survival and traditional crafts within the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore in Bayfield, Wisconsin.
  3. A keen kayaker, he often took people out on boating trips. He was part of a team that uses camping, kayaking, skiing, swimming and other activities to help people overcome trauma or substance abuse. It was his goal to pursue a career in wilderness therapy.
  4. From 2009 to 2012, he attended West Allis Central High School. During his freshman year of high school, he went to his first protest in support of LGBTQ rights and his American Politics teacher excused him from class, USA Today has learned.
  5. On November 17, 2010, the West Allis Police Department arrested him for simple assault. His grandmother Janice A. Grosskreutz called the police and accused him of striking her across the face with an open hand during an argument.
  6. From 2013 to 2016, he attended Milwaukee Area Technical College at the Oak Creek, Wisconsin campus where he earned his emergency medical technician basic (EMT-B) certification.
  7. In 2016, he was convicted of a criminal misdemeanor for going armed with a firearm while intoxicated. He also had a forfeiture case for not showing obedience to officers and one for loud noises.
  8. He was part of a group of activists who demonstrated around Milwaukee to seek justice for George Floyd, who died on May 25, 2020, Milwaukee activist Bethany Crevensten told The Oklahoman.
  9. From June 2020 to July 2020, he volunteered as a medic for the Black Lives Matter protests around Milwaukee.
  10. After being shot by Rittenhouse on August 25, 2020, he was treated at two hospitals in Kenosha. Afterwards, Flight for Life airlifted him to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee.
  11. He was 26 years old when he was shot by Rittenhouse on August 25, 2020.
  12. He studied outdoor education with an emphasis in program administration at Northland College in Ashland. He was expected to graduated in December 2020 but his education was put on hold after he was shot by Rittenhouse in Kenosha.
  13. When he testified in court on November 8, 2021, he explained why he was armed on August 25, 2020. He said, “I believe in the Second Amendment. I’m for people’s right to carry and bear arms and that night was no different than any other day. It’s keys, phone, wallet, gun.” Attorneys for him and the estate of Rosenbaum said two people “did not deserve to die that night” when Rittenhouse was found not guilty on one count of first-degree reckless homicide, two counts of first-degree intentional homicide and two counts of first-degree reckless endangerment on November 19, 2021.

  5. I just hope Kyle gets a fair trial. Looked like self defense to me. He could have killed Grosskreutz very easily. He showed good presence of mind to just shoot him in the arm that held the hand gun.

    1. There is no good presence when you are in gun fight or a fight for your life. There is only muscle memory and solid technique. This is unfortunate for all parties involved. Four lives were changed forever that night and Grosskreutz is luck to be alive along with Rittenhouse. The fact that guy was wearing a paramedic hat and carrying medical supplies along with the firearm in the hand of the arm that was shot speaks mountains about what kind of person he is truly. Stating he wishes he would of killed a teenager identifies the type of person he truly is without a doubt. This is a national case now, the chances of this kid getting a fair trial is slim at best.

        First off, Kyle shot 3 white guys. The one guy he didn’t shoot that had attacked him was a black guy aka Jump Kick Guy. Therefore, not a racist.
        Secondly, Kyle was not carrying an assault rifle. It is a type of semi-automatic rifle that’s owned by millions of people around the country that’s used for sport, hunting and self defense. There were other people there carrying AR-15s.
        Third, Gaige Grosskreutz was carrying a handgun illegally concealed at a “rally”.
        Fourth, you can kill someone with a blunt object. Huber wasn’t swinging a pillow. He was swinging a heavy object made of wood and metal. If it’s no big deal getting hit by a skateboard. I suggest you go buy one. Have a friend swing it as hard as they can by the trucks on the board and hit you in the head with it. Then post the video to YouTube so we can see how it’s no big deal getting hit by one. Maybe you’ll survive it by just being knocked out. Or maybe it will cave your skull in and you’ll die. Either way, you’ll learn a valuable lesson.
        Fifth, no, it’s not uncommon to shoot 2 people in the chest. That’s exactly how police are trained and how every civilian should train. You aim for center mass to stop a threat.
        Sixth, Rosenbaum was a violent felon (as was Huber). He had spent 14 years in prison for violently sodomizing 2 little boys for several years. As with my fourth point. I invite you to go and find a violent felon fresh out of prison, piss them off and see how well you do in hand to hand combat.
        If the violent felon doesn’t kill you, then you would once again learn a valuable lesson.

        Rather than seething and raging, you should go back and watch the trial videos. Watch the tapes of Kyle getting chased and assaulted. Review the testimonies of the people who were there like the reporter who was named as a potential victim.

  13. LOL I didn’t make it to the 13 facts because I couldn’t get past the omission of Rittenhouse’s motivation for opening fire. The article says Rittenhouse opened fire, as if for no reason he just began shooting people. Insane, and the fascist activists who want to believe that narrative will accept it, depsite it being completely false. Rittenhouse was confronted by the first activist who ended up shooting. He ran away from him and only “opened fire” when the activst grabbed the barrel of his gun. Then Rittenhouse called for help before other activsts began to converge on him and he was forced to run again. As he ran he fell. He was kicked and hit with a skateboard and the skateboarder grabbed the barrel of his rifle. This was the second time he opened fire. The third was the pussy with the gun in his hand who lunged towards him. Rittenhouse showed incredible poise, courage, and restraint in defending himself against these ignorant coward mfers.

Saved countless lives you say, do you care to prove that… Let me tell you about Gaige Grosskreutz, He had a felony burglary conviction in 2012, he received his EMT-B certificate from MATC in 2016, now in the state of Wisconsin you CAN’T be an EMT and have a felony on your record. Maybe he slipped through the cracks but there is no record of him ever working as an EMT. He did however work as a driver shuttling elderly to and from a retirement home to scheduled doctors appointments, which is kind of ironic seeing as the great savior Gaige Grosskreutz assaulted his own grandmother.

        Maybe do some research you can’t even spell the clown’s name correct. Gaige Grosskreutz has an extensive history of making poor discussions and i feel he will join another gun statistic when his lawsuit gets tossed and he realizes he is a complete f**k up and does the world a favor by suck starting that Glock.

    Gauge, the one that was shot in the arm tells everyone he’s a paramedic and is wearing a paramedic cap. When in fact he is only certified as a emergency medical technician basic.

    I have been a paramedic and firefighter for 27 years and it really insults me then people claim to be paramedics when they are not. It’s almost like stolen valor when people claim to have been in the military and they were never in the military and never served.

    2. It’s like calling a first year apprentice electrician an electrician. They get a license by simply paying the state fee and being employed by a contractor. It doesn’t make you an electrician. It generally takes 4 years, (5 years if you are IBEW) and 3 grueling state exams, a practical (hands on), a theory (mathematics circuit solving) and a Code (Electrical Law) test. This will include relicensure and 16 hours of continuing education each 2 year license cycle. You don’t get to just go around and claim a profession as if that just makes you what ever it is that you are claiming. AKA Stolen valor.

    a Paramedic is a profession and he was not a employees or licensed at the time. His EMT cert only lasted a year from when he finished school.
