The Commonwealth of Dominica is an island country in North America. Located in the Caribbean, the country is surrounded by the French Republic with Guadeloupe to the northwest and Martinique to the south-southeast.

On March 1, 1967, Dominica achieved its independence from the United Kingdom. On December 18, 1978, Dominica was admitted to the United Nations.

Charles Savarin, 78, is the incumbent president of Dominica. He assumed office on October 2, 2013.
