Luke Marshall Wenke, 29, of Olean, Cattaraugus County, New York, United States has been arrested. He was charged with one count of making threats to injure another person in interstate commerce.
On September 3, 2020, an acquaintance of Wenke in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA was arrested and charged with conspiracy to provide material support and resources to Hamas. On September 22, 2020, Wenke started sending a series of threatening communications via email and telephone to the attorney representing his acquaintance.

“I will gladly take a steel chair to your face until I get what I want here,” Wenke said in part in an email sent to the lawyer on January 23, 2022. “You don’t respect me…but you will.”
On January 24, 2022, Wenke sent another email to the lawyer containing a photograph of the lawyer’s residence. The name of the lawyer was not released.
At 3:00 p.m. on January 31, 2022, Wenke will appear before U.S. Magistrate Judge H. Kenneth Schroeder, Jr. If found guilty, the Olean resident will spend a maximum of five years in prison and pay a $250,000 fine.
Olean is the largest city in Cattaraugus County. The city is located where Olean Creek flows into the Allegheny River and by the Southern Tier Expressway.
On November 5, 2015, William J. Aiello was elected as the mayor of Olean. He was reelected on November 7, 2017 and on November 3, 2021.
