Brandon Deandra Knight, 22, of Jacksonville, Arkansas, United States has been arrested. He was charged with first-degree battery and aggravated assault.
At around 6:50 p.m. on March 19, 2022, Knight allegedly opened fired during a community car show at Fred’s Store in Dumas, Arkansas. A total of 28 people were shot including Cameron Shaffer, 23, of Jacksonville, who died at a hospital in Dumas, and Angelo Ussery, Jr., 1.
Aside from Ussery, there were five other wounded children, who are aged 11, 9, 8, 23 months, 19 months and 12 months. They were released after receiving treatment from Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas.
The shooting started as a gunfight between two people, according to the Arkansas State Police. The investigators did not find have evidence to believe that it was gang-related.
Knight was also taken to a hospital in Dumas. At 9:40 a.m. on March 23, 2022, he was released from the hospital and was arrested by the Arkansas State Police.
On March 24, 2022, Knight will make his first court appearance. The Jacksonville resident was booked into the Dumas City Jail and a district court judge in Dumas set his bond at $100,000.
