When she applied for Medicaid in 2018, she claimed that she had a monthly income of $2,000 and her husband earned $1,709 every two weeks but their joint tax returns revealed that they had $276,820 in income that year. She allegedly received improper Medicaid benefits worth $8,970 throughout that year.

On June 26, 2020, a federal grand jury in New Orleans returned an 11-count indictment charging her and Williams with conspiracy to defraud the United States, aiding and assisting in the preparation and presentation of false and fraudulent tax returns, and failure to file IRS Forms 8300 relating to cash received in trade or business.
  9. Represented by Mike Magner, she turned herself into authorities on the morning of April 13, 2022 and was released on her own recognizance a short time later.
  10. She and Williams  are scheduled for trial in federal court on 11 counts of tax fraud on July 18, 2022.
