Jerric Gilbert, 35, of Carrollton, Georgia, United States was sworn in as a Carrollton Police Department officer in July 2015. In November 2021, he was promoted to the rank of corporal.
Gilbert also served as a school resource officer for Carrollton Elementary School in Carrollton. On April 15, 2022, he allegedly encouraged a girl, 11, to touch him inappropriately while they were at his residence in Carrollton.

On April 22, 2022, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) took Gilbert into custody at the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office. He was booked into the Carroll County Jail in Carrollton.
After an internal investigation, the Carrollton Police Department fired Gilbert. He was charged with one count of child molestation and one count of violation of oath of office by a public officer.
Incorporated in 1829, Carrollton is known for its diverse live music tradition. The city was mentioned in the 1936 novel “Gone with the Wind” and in its 1939 film adaptation.
Former National Basketball Association player Corey Crowder, 53, and former National Football League player Reggie Brown, 41, were both born in Carrollton. Betty Cason is the incumbent mayor of the city.
