Bohol’s Pauline Amelinckx is Miss Universe Philippines Charity 2022, crowned in Pasay City


Pauline Cucharo Amelinckx, 26, of Bohol, Philippines is Miss Universe Philippines Charity 2022, the third highest title at Miss Universe Philippines 2022. She was crowned at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on April 30, 2022.

Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, Miss Universe 2016 Iris Mittenaere and Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters hosted the coronation night. The ceremony also featured performances by Filipino singers Bamboo Mañalac, Sam Concepcion, Francisco Martin, Arthur Nery, Morissette and JM Bales.


“What is that one life-changing decision that you’ve made and what was its impact on your life?” was Amelinckx’s question in the final question-and-answer portion. She answered, “The life-changing decision that I’ve made is to join Miss Universe Philippines again despite being bashed before for my body, being doubted by people.”

“I found strength in myself and this story can be a testament for other people to draw strength from, too,” Amelinckx continued. “(This proves) that a second chance can be just as sweet and you can still achieve your ultimate a second time around.”


Reigning Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Sandhu served as a judge. Joining her in the judging panel were Francis Padua Papica, Tonee Co See, Margarita Gutierrez, Richelle Singson Michael, Sam Versoza, Lia Andrea Moss, RS Francisco, Jennifer Olay and Joshua Sorrentino.

Among the 31 candidates, Amelinckx received the third highest score from the judges while Michelle Daniela Marquez Dee, 26, of Makati City, Metro Manila, who was crowned Miss Universe Philippines Tourism 2022, received the second highest score. They both received non-competing titles.

The top scorer was Silvia Celeste Rabimbi Cortesi, 24, of Pasay City, who was crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2022. She will represent the Philippines in the 71st edition of Miss Universe.


Amelinckx is a runway model and a host. She is an advocate for the use of art in helping raise awareness to environmental protection among children.

When Amelinckx won Miss Bohol 2017, the first runner-up was Gazini Ganados. Representing the Philippines, Ganados finished in the Top 20 at Miss Universe 2019.

On September 16, 2018, Amelinckx was crowned Mutya ng Pilipinas 2018. She was supposed to represent the Philippines at Global Beauty Queen 2018 in South Korea but the international beauty pageant was cancelled due to the tension in the Middle East at the time.

Born to a Belgian father and a Filipino mother, Amelinckx represented Bohol at Miss Universe Philippines 2020. She was third runner-up to Rabiya Mateo, who finished in the Top 21 at Miss Universe 2020.
