On June 30, 2016, Carmelita “Menchie” Aguilar Abalos assumed office as the mayor of Mandaluyong. On June 30, 2022, she will assume office as the vice mayor of the city.

On July 26, 2020, Gianna Llanes represented Mandaluyong at Miss Philippines Earth 2020 and competed against 32 other candidates in a virtual coronation ceremony. She ranked third and was crowned Miss Philippines Water 2020.
On July 11, 2021, Shaira Marie Rona represented Mandaluyong at Binibining Pilipinas 2021 and competed against 33 other candidates at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Metro Manila. She was unplaced.
On August 8, 2021, Roni Meneses represented Mandaluyong at Miss Philippines Earth 2021 and competed against 65 other candidates in a virtual coronation ceremony. She ranked fourth and was crowned Miss Philippines Fire 2021.
