2022 Abra congressman, governor, vice governor, board members elected

Abra is one of the six provinces of the Cordillera Administrative Region of the Philippines. The others are Apayao, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga and Mountain Province.

Eustaquio “Takit” Purugganan Bersamin was born in Bangued, Abra to Dr. Luis F. Bersamin Sr. and Rosario Purruganan Bersamin. Takit served as the governor of the province from June 30, 2007 to June 30, 2016.

Takit’s brother Lucas “Luke” Purugganan Bersamin served in the Supreme Court of the Philippines as an associate justice from April 3, 2009 to November 26, 2018 and the chief justice from November 28, 2018 to October 18, 2019. On February 6, 2020, Luke became the chairman of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS).

Also born in Bangued, Luke turned 72 on October 18, 2021. Takit turned 75 on March 13, 2022.
