Tawi-Tawi, Philippines is one of the five provinces in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). The others are Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte and Maguindanao del Sur.

Yshmael Ismail Sali was born in Tawi-Tawi, which shares borders with Sabah, Malaysia and North Kalimantan, Indonesia. He has been the governor of Tawi-Tawi since June 30, 2019.

Sali joined the United Nationalist Alliance in 2013 and the National Unity Party in 2016. He turned 58 on March 10, 2022.

Tawi-Tawi has 11 municipalities namely Bongao, Languyan, Mapun, Panglima Sugala, Sapa-Sapa, Sibutu, Simunul, Sitangkai, South Ubian, Tandubas and the Turtle Islands. The municipalities collectively have a total of 203 barangays, 35 of which are in Bongao, the capital of the province.

On April 25, 2010, Kriskate D. Lee represented Bongao at Miss Philippines Earth 2010 and competed against 48 other candidates at Aquatica at Manila Ocean Park in Manila, Metro Manila, Philippines. She was unplaced.

Renz Fernando of Tawi-Tawi was one of the 30 artists who competed in the singing competition show “The Clash” Season 4, which aired on GMA Network from October 2, 2021 to December 19, 2021. He finished seventh.
