Ferdinand “Bongbong” Romualdez Marcos Jr. was born at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Santa Mesa, Manila, Metro Manila, Philippines to Ferdinand Emmanuel Edralin Marcos Sr. and Imelda Remedios Visitación Trinidad Romuáldez Marcos. Ferdinand Sr. was born in Sarrat, Ilocos Norte, Philippines while Imelda was born in San Miguel, Manila.
Ferdinand Sr. served as the Philippines’ secretary of national defense from August 28, 1971 to January 3, 1972, prime minister from June 12, 1978 to June 30, 1981 and president from December 30, 1965 to February 25, 1986. He turned 72 on September 11, 1989 and died in Honolulu, Hawaii, United States on September 28, 1989.
Imelda was the governor of Metro Manila from February 27, 1975 to February 25, 1986 and the congresswoman of the first district of Leyte, Philippines from June 30, 1995 to June 30, 1998 and of the second district of Ilocos Norte from June 30, 2010 to June 30, 2019. On July 2, 2021, she turned 92.
Bongbong served as Ilocos Norte’s vice governor from June 30, 1980 to March 23, 1983 and governor from June 30, 1998 to June 30, 2007 and the congressman of the province’s second district from June 30, 2007 to June 30, 2010. He was a senator of the Philippines from June 30, 2010 to June 30, 2016.
On September 13, 2021, Bongbong turned 64. On June 30, 2022, he will assume office as the 17th president of the Philippines.
