Born in Pateros, Metro Manila, Philippines, Miguel “Ike” Fernando Ponce III turned 62 on June 15, 2021. He unsuccessfully ran for mayor of the municipality after losing to Rosendo Capco in 2001 and to Joey Medina in 2013.

In 2016, Ponce was elected mayor of Pateros. He was reelected in 2022.

Pateros is the only municipality in Metro Manila, Philippines. The municipality is known for its duck-raising industry and production of the Filipino delicacy balut, a fertilized developing egg embryo that is boiled or steamed and eaten from the shell.
