Sorsogon City is the capital of Sorsogon and the only component city in the province. The province also has 14 municipalities namely Barcelona, Bulan, Bulusan, Casiguran, Castilla, Donsol, Gubat, Irosin, Juban, Magallanes, Matnog, Pilar, Prieto Diaz and Santa Magdalena.

Every last week of June, Sorsogon City celebrates the Pili Festival to honor the Pili nut, which is indigenous to Sorsogon. Every October, the province celebrates the Kasanggayahan Festival.

On June 9, 2019, Maria Isabela Galeria represented Sorsogon at Binibining Pilipinas 2019 and competed against 39 other candidates at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Metro Manila. She finished in the Top 15.
