Madeline Henriquez, 23, of Brentwood, Town of Islip, Suffolk County, Long Island, New York, United States drove a 2012 Hyundai with a learner’s permit eastbound on Motor Parkway in Hauppauge, Suffolk County. At 10:15 p.m., she collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Moreland Road in Hauppauge.
Henriquez’s car jumped the curb and hit Cherokee Cryingwind Fletcher, 28, of Commack, Suffolk County. The latter was walking on the sidewalk to a 7-Eleven to get some cash for her eldest child’s school field trip.
A physician assistant from the office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner pronounced Fletcher dead on scene. Henriquez fled the scene in her 2012 Hyundai and brought the car to a repair shop in an attempt to hide the damages.

Fletcher has five children. She was Steven Bartolomey‘s fiancée.
In 2015, Fletcher gave birth to her eldest son. In April 2021, she gave birth to her youngest child.
On June 1, 2022, Henriquez surrendered to authorities and she was charged second-degree manslaughter, leaving the scene of an incident involving a fatality and tampering with physical evidence. On June 2, 2022, she will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip, Town of Islip.
Brentwood is a hamlet in the Town of Islip. The hamlet is the site of Pilgrim Psychiatric Center, which was officially opened in 1931.
Born in Brooklyn, New York City, New York to a Haitian father and a Dominican mother, footballer Andrew Jean-Baptiste, 29, attended Brentwood High School in Brentwood. It is one the 19 elementary and secondary schools in the Brentwood Union Free School District in Suffolk County.
