Austin, Texas’s Kaitlin Armstrong captured in Puntarenas, Costa Rica, jailed in Los Lagos, Heredia

Kaitlin Marie Armstrong, 34, of Austin, Texas, United States is a yoga teacher and a real estate agent. She and professional cyclist Colin Strickland, 35, of Austin started dating and lived together in 2019.

When Armstrong and Strickland took a break from their relationship for a week in October 2021, he dated competitive gravel and mountain bike racer Anna Moriah “Mo” Wilson, then 24, of Vermont, USA. After ending his relationship with Wilson, he reconciled with Armstrong and they resumed their relationship.

On May 11, 2022, Strickland and Wilson went swimming together in Austin. Later that day, Armstrong allegedly fatally shot Wilson in an apartment in Austin.

Surveillance video showed Armstrong’s 2012 Jeep Cherokee stopping outside the apartment before Wilson was found dead. When investigators asked Armstrong about it on May 12, 2022, she did not offer any explanation.

On May 13, 2022, Armstrong sold her black Jeep Grand Cherokee to a CarMax dealership in Austin for $12,200 then disappeared. On May 14, 2022, she took a flight from Austin International Bergstrom Airport in Austin to Houston, Texas before boarding a connecting Southwest flight to LaGuardia Airport in New York, USA.

On May 18, 2022, Armstrong was seen being dropped off at the Newark Liberty International Airport in Newark, New Jersey, USA. She used a fraudulent passport to board a flight from the airport to San Jose, Costa Rica, according to the U.S. Marshals.

On June 29, 2022, Armstrong was found at a hostel on Santa Teresa Beach in Santa Teresa, Provincia de Puntarenas, Costa Rica. On June 30, 2022, she was transferred to the Centro de Aprehensión Regional Central, a prison in Los Lagos, Heredia, Costa Rica.

Currently, Armstrong is in deportation proceedings. However, there is no specific date for it to be completed.

Santa Teresa is known known for its beaches. The town has a bohemian street with yoga studios, eco-stores, boutique hotels, ice cream cafes, clothing shops, co-working spots and restaurants.

The capital of Provincia de Puntarenas is a city also called Puntarenas. The city’s Pacific Ocean beaches is often visited by surfers.
