Rose Marian Melendez Lopez was born and raised in Limon, Colon, Honduras. She belongs to the Garifuna people, a mixed African and indigenous people who are descended from the Black Caribs, who lived on the Caribbean island of Saint Vincent.
On August 28, 2021, Melendez represented Limon at Miss Honduras Universo 2021 and competed against 15 other candidates at the Infinity Bay Spa and Beach Resort in Roatán, Bay Islands, Honduras. She won the title.
On June 30, 2022, Melendez crowned her successor Rebecca Rodriguez at the Plaza de las Banderas in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. The latter will represent the country at Miss Universe 2022.
Currently, Honduras has one Miss Universe placement. On July 22, 1955, Pastora Pagán Valenzuela represented the country at Miss Universe 1955, competed against 32 other candidates at the Long Beach Municipal Auditorium in Long Beach, California, United States and finished in the Top 15.
