Brittany Coney, 29, of Rancho Cucamonga, San Bernardino County, California, United States is a mother of two boys. She gave birth to her first son in 2011 and to her second son in 2013.
On July 7, 2022, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a domestic dispute in her residence in Rancho Cucamonga. According to the caller, a man and a woman were arguing in the house.

When the deputies arrived and contacted Coney, she was uncooperative and would not allow them to check on the welfare of the occupants inside the residence. Instead, she asked her second son to grab a shotgun from inside their house.
The boy retrieved a shotgun and approached Coney and the deputies, who quickly withdrew from the situation to prevent a possibly lethal encounter. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Specialized Enforcement Division (SED) responded and helped the deputies to arrest her without further incident.
A loaded shotgun was recovered from the residence, which was found to be uninhabitable, unsanitary and without adequate food. Coney was charged with child abuse and obstruction and resisting arrest while Child Protective Services took custody of her two sons.
Rancho Cucamonga was incorporated as a city on November 30, 1977. It is the 28th most populous city in California.
