Kiara Arends biography: 13 things about Miss Universe Aruba 2022

Kiara Arends is an Aruban swimmer, model and beauty queen. Hailing from Oranjestad, Aruba, she speaks Papiamento, English, Spanish and French.

As a teenager, Arends formed part of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Kids Council under the guidance of Princess Laurentien of the Dutch Royal Family. Here are 13 more things about her:

1. From August 2011 to July 2017, she attended Colegio Arubano in Oranjestad.
2. She is Miss Teen Aruba International 2017.
3. From September 2017 to June 2018, she attended the University of Aruba in Oranjestad where she received her propedeuse degree.
4. On May 26, 2018, she represented Aruba at Miss Teen Americas 2018 and competed against 14 other candidates in San Salvador, El Salvador. She was runner-up to Michelle Colon of Puerto Rico and was crowned Virreina de las Americas 2018.
5. From September 2018 to July 2021, she attended the University of Aruba where she earned her law degree.
6. From February 2021 to April 2021, she was an intern at Kloes Kock and Partners in Oranjestad.
7. On March 31, 2020, amid the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, she founded a charity organization called Benefitting Upcoming Mommies during the Pandemic (BUMP) Aruba.
8. From July 2021 to January 2022, she attended Katholieke Universiteit (KU) Leuven in Leuven, Belgium where she earned her master’s degree in international business, trade and tax law.
9. On July 31, 2022, she was officially appointed as Miss Universe Aruba 2022.
10. On January 14, 2023, she represented Aruba at Miss Universe 2022 and competed against 83 other candidates at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States. She was unplaced.
11. On February 1, 2023, she was at the University of Aruba when Queen Máxima of the Netherlands visited the university.
12. In April 2023, she visited Amsterdam, Netherlands.
13. She was 24 years old when she crowned her successor Miss Universe Aruba 2023 Karol Croes at the Renaissance Convention Center in Oranjestad.
