“Crimes of the Future” is a science-fiction body horror film shot in Athens, Greece in 2021. It was written and directed by David Cronenberg, 79, of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
When the film premiered at the 75th annual Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, France on May 23, 2022, it received a six-minute standing ovation. It hit theaters in Canada and the United States on June 3, 2022.
On September 9, 2022, the film will be released in Ireland and the United Kingdom. Produced by Robert Lantos, 73, of Canada and Hungary, it is a co-production of companies from Canada, France, Greece and the U.K.
