Ian Gray Angel, 47, of Union, Boone County, Kentucky, United States has been arrested. Aside from Union, he has lived in other parts of Kentucky including Southgate, Verona, Bond, Ludlow and Florence.
On August 23, 2007, Angel contacted a woman performing dances or massage services for clients and requested 30 minutes of services at an agreed-upon price. In the evening, they met at the Super 8 Motel in Fort Mitchell, Kenton County, Kentucky.

After the 30 minutes expired, Angel allegedly requested sexual acts, which the woman refused to provide so he got angry and repeatedly punched her in the face, knocking her unconscious. When she woke up, around $200 in cash and two cell phones were missing from the room and he was no longer there.
The woman underwent a forensic sexual assault examination and a deoxyribonucleic (DNA) sample of the suspect was submitted to the Kentucky State Police State Lab. Through cellphone records, Angel was identified as the suspect.
However, the Fort Mitchell Police Department was not able to find Angel. Later, the case was closed.
In August 2011, Angel was arrested in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA for an unrelated crime. On June 13, 2022, the sample of the woman he allegedly assaulted on August 23, 2007 was entered into the National DNA Index System database and it produced a match with his DNA.
On August 29, 2022, the Fort Mitchell Police Department filed a complaint against Angel in Kenton County District Court. On August 31, 2022, he was arrested, charged with rape and robbery and booked into the Kenton County Jail in Covington, Kenton County, Kentucky.
