“House of the Dragon” Season 1 premiered on HBO on August 21, 2022. It is an independent prequel to “Game of Thrones“, which aired on HBO from April 17, 2011 to May 19, 2019.
Both series are based on George R. R. Martin‘s series of epic novels titled “A Song of Ice and Fire“. The novels were published by Bantam Books in Canada and the United States and by Voyager Books in Australia and the United Kingdom.
Created by Martin and Ryan Condal, “House of the Dragon” was filmed primarily in the U.K. It is set about 200 years before the events of “Game of Thrones”.
