In 1977, Kennedy received a Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law in Charlottesville, Virginia, USA. In 1979, he earned his master’s degree in civil law from Magdalen College in Oxford, England, United Kingdom.

In 1990, Kennedy married Rebecca Stulb. From January 8, 1996 to April 30, 1999, he was the secretary of the Louisiana Department of Revenue.

From January 10, 2000 to January 3, 2017, Kennedy was the treasurer of Louisiana. From 2002 to 2016, he was an adjunct professor at the Paul M. Hebert Law Center of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

A Republican since 2007, Kennedy assumed office as the U.S. senator from Louisiana on January 3, 2017. He was reelected on November 8, 2022.

On November 21, 2022, Kennedy will turn 71. He is not related to John Fitzgerald Kennedy, who served as the 35th U.S. president from January 20, 1961 to November 22, 1963.

Born in Brookline, Massachusetts, USA, John Fitzgerald turned 46 on May 29, 1963. He died in Dallas, Texas, USA on November 22, 1963.
