After achieving its independence from the United Kingdom on October 10, 1970, Fiji was admitted to the United Nations on October 13, 1970. The Oceanian country became a republic on October 7, 1987.
Wiliame Katonivere, 59, is the incumbent president of Fiji. He assumed office on November 12, 2021.
