Jamahal Hill biography: 13 things about UFC Light Heavyweight Champion

Jamahal Alexander Hill is an African-American professional mixed martial artist whose fight name is Sweet Dreams. He stands 6’4″, weighs 205 pounds and competes in the light heavyweight division.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, United States, Hill he moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA in 2003. He graduated from Rogers High School in Wyoming, Michigan and passed on a basketball career at Davenport University in Grand Rapids.

Hill has six children. The oldest was born in 2007 and the youngest was born in 2019.

A blue belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Hill started his MMA career fighting in KnockOut Promotions from 2017 to 2018. Here are 13 more things about him:

  2. On April 21, 2018, he defeated William Vincent of Joliet, Illinois via unanimous decision at “KOP 61” in Grand Rapids.

  4. On February 16, 2019, he and Vincent had a rematch at the Lights Out Championship event in Grand Rapids. He won via technical knockout due to retirement.

He was 31 years old when he became the new UFC Light Heavyweight Champion on January 21, 2023 by defeating Glover Teixeira of Bethel, Connecticut, USA via unanimous decision at “UFC 283” in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, which improved his professional MMA record to 12 wins, 1 loss and 1 No Contest. He is the first Dana White’s Contender Series alum to become a UFC champion.
