Kyle Wade Clinkscales of LaGrange, Georgia, United States was 22 when he left the Moose Club in LaGrange, Troup County, Georgia, USA on January 27, 1976. At the time, his father John Dixon Clinkscales was 51 and his mother Mary Louise Davenport Clinkscales was 48.

Born in Montgomery, Alabama, Kyle is the only child of John and Mary. Kyle was a junior at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama, USA and he worked as a bartender at the Moose Club.

Clinkscales was 6’0″ tall. He weighed around 155 pounds.

Kyle drove a white two-door Ford Pinto Runabout and shared an apartment in Auburn with a roommate. When he left the Moose Club on the evening of January 27, 1976, he planned to drive back to Auburn University but he never arrived at the university.

That evening, Kyle was allegedly with Jeanne Pawlak Johnson and he was supposed to give Ray Hyde some money. After an argument, Hyde fatally shot Kyle, according to Jimmy Earl “Slim” Jones.

On February 1, 1976, John and Mary went to Kyle’s apartment in Auburn. Kyle had not been there since January 27,1976, according to his roommate.

John and Mary reported Kyle missing to police in Auburn and LaGrange. Kyle’s Ford Pinto Runabout was also missing.

On December 7, 2021, Kyle’s 1974 Ford Pinto Runabout was found submerged in a creek in LaFayette, Chambers County, Alabama. Inside the car were human bones and his identification and credit cards and other personal items.

On February 19, 2023, the Troup County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the bones belong to Kyle. The cause of his death has yet to be determined.
