David Sumera and his girlfriend Alexxis Eymard, both of Belle Chasse, Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana, United States, have died. He was 36 and she was 26.
Born in Louisiana, Sumera was one of six siblings in a blended family. He is Rhonda Bowles‘ son and Roxanne Bowles‘ brother.
When Sumera was a baby, he and his family moved to Indiana. After his parents divorced, his father returned to Louisiana.
In 2002, Sumera decided to stay with his father in Louisiana. Sumera himself became a father with five sons.
In 2004, Sumera’s first son was born. His fifth son was born in 2015.
Raised by a single father, Eymard and his brothers Brandon Eymard and Cory Eymard grew up in Harvey, Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. She drifted to drugs after Brandon and Cory died of overdoses in 2012 and in 2017, respectively.
Sumera’s family was aware that he sold drugs. On September 24, 2022, he and Alexxis allegedly drove to a resident in Marrero, Jefferson Parish to deliver heroin.
At around 5:40 p.m. that day, Michael Harris, then 33, of Harvey allegedly opened fire on Sumera and Alexxis. Sumera, who was well acquainted with Harris, and Alexxis were found fatally shot inside a car in Marrero that evening.
On February 16, 2023, U.S. Marshals arrested Harris in Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee, USA without incident while he was exiting a gas station. He was booked into the Shelby County Jail in Memphis.
Harris will be extradited to Louisiana. He was wanted by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office for two counts of first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
