Neptune, New Jersey’s Karl Roberson arrested; Ex-UFC fighter charged with burglary, theft, criminal mischief

Karl Roberson, 32, was born and raised in Neptune, Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. He competed in the Ultimate Fighting Championship from 2017 to 2022.

Roberson made his professional mixed martial arts debut in 2015. As a kickboxer, he competed as an amateur in 2013 and 2015, turned professional in 2015 and competed in Glory in 2016.

On July 9, 2022, Roberson lost via technical knockout via elbows to Kennedy Nzechukwu, 30, of Dallas, Texas, USA at “UFC Vegas 58” in Enterprise, Las Vegas Valley, Clark County, Nevada, USA. After the loss, the UFC released the Neptune native.

On December 26, 2022, Roberson and Dathan Thompson, 32, of Neptune allegedly entered a house in Howell Township, Monmouth County by forcing open a rear door and stole more than $200,000 worth of valuables including exotic jewelry. Surveillance video captured the two wearing masks and gloves inside and outside the house.

On March 23, 2023, Howell Township Police Department officers arrested Roberson during a motor vehicle stop. He was in a car connected to the burglary in Howell Township on December 26, 2022.

Officers obtained a search warrant and found items related to the burglary in Roberson’s car. They also found marijuana, packages of suspected crack cocaine and a 9-millimeter handgun with an extended magazine.

After spending several weeks in custody at Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold Township, Monmouth County, Roberson was released on bail.  He was charged with burglary, theft, criminal mischief, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and several weapons offenses.

Thompson has also been arrested. He was charged with burglary, theft and criminal mischief.
