Irondequoit, New York’s Joseph Driffill arrested in Brighton, charged with attempted enticement of a minor  

Joseph Driffill, 56, of Irondequoit, Monroe County, New York, United States started communicating with who he thought was a girl aged 14 on an instant messaging app in March 2023. The person he was communicating with was actually an undercover task force officer from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

During those communications, Driffill allegedly encouraged the person she believed was a minor to not say anything to anyone about their conversations. He also sent sexually explicit communications and nude photographs to the perceived teenage girl.

Driffill requested to pick up the perceived teenage girl from school for the purposes of engaging in sex. He and the undercover officer posing as the girl agreed to meet at a location in Brighton, Monroe County on April 20, 2023.

That day, Driffill did show up at the location in Brighton and was arrested there. A U.S. Magistrate Judge released him after a detention hearing.

The Irondequoit resident was charged with attempted enticement of a minor and attempted transfer of obscene material to a minor. If convicted, he will be sentenced to 10-20 years in prison.

Irondequoit was founded on March 27, 1839. The town is a suburb of the city of Rochester, the seat of Monroe County.

Drummer, percussionist, and session musician Steve Gadd, 78, was born and raised in Irondequoit. Born in Rochester, former ice hockey defenseman Rory Fitzpatrick, 48, has been the town supervisor of Irondequoit since January 1, 2022.
