Shawn Lahman of Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas, United States has died. He was 44.
Lahman had an ongoing dispute with Micky Don Owens, 34, of Johnson City, Stanton County, Kansas, Wichita Police Department spokesperson Juan Rebolledo said on April 28, 2023. Details about the dispute were not released.
On April 24, 2023, Owens allegedly drove to Wichita, saw Lawman on South Edwards Avenue in Wichita and shot him. The suspect allegedly fled to Stanton County.
At around 11:20 p.m., Wichita Police Department officers responded to South Edwards Avenue to an unknown call for police. When they arrived, they found Lahman in the front seat of a van with a gunshot wound to his upper torso.
Lahman died at the scene. Shortly after, investigators coordinated with the Stanton County Sheriff’s Office and the Kansas Highway Patrol to be on the lookout for Owens.
On April 27, 2023, the Stanton County Sheriff’s Office arrested Owens in Johnson City for an unrelated warrant in Sedgwick County. On April 28, 2023, he was booked into the Sedgwick County Adult Detention Facility in Wichita on the charges of first-degree murder.
