Joan Marie Dymond was 14 when she went missing from her home in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, United States on June 25, 1969. She was last seen wearing a brown blouse with long sleeves and flowered slacks.

Dymond is of Lithuanian descent. She had brown hair and brown eyes. She was 5’5″ tall and she weighed 125 pounds.

When Dymond went missing, his father George Francis Dymond Sr. was 55, her mother Anne Rose Karaliunas Dymond was 44, Anne’s father Martin Karaliunas was 73 and Anne’s mother Petronella Dwilinski Karaliunas was 69.

George was a World War II veteran. He was born in Ashley, Luzerne County to Anthony Diamond, who passed away in 1922, and Magdalena Shergalis Diamond, who passed away in 1953.

Anne was born in Wilkes-Barre. She was an alumna of Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) Memorial Junior/Senior High School in Wilkes-Barre.

On November 17, 2012, Joan’s remains were found on the grounds of a former coal-mining operation in Newport Township, Luzerne County. The remains were sent to the University of Texas in Austin, Travis County, Texas, USA for deoxyribonucleic acid testing.

In March 2022, the remains were submitted to Othram, Inc. to undergo genetic genealogy testing. On October 4, 2022, the Pennsylvania State Police confirmed that the remains belong to Joan.

On June 13, 2023, the Pennsylvania State Police announced that Joan’s death has been ruled a homicide. There are still no identified suspects.
