Michael Olson, 55, of Manhattan, New York City, New York, United States is a financier who worked at Dwight Mortgage Trust, a real estate investor based in New York City. He is accused of targeting underage Asian girls with social media posts about self-harm or money troubles.
On Instagram, Olson allegedly looked for posts of Asian girls complaining about not being able to afford clothes and lured them by offering them money. He allegedly kept a spreadsheet to keep track of other girls he messaged, how much money he paid to each girl and what drugs he fed to each girl.
In December 2022, Olson met a girl, then 14. Before they met, he messaged her on Instagram and sent her a gift card.
From December 2022 to May 2023, Olson allegedly drugged and sexually abused the girl multiple times. He allegedly paid her approximately $700 a week to engage in sexual conduct in hotel rooms in Manhattan and in Queens, New York City.
Olson traveled with the girl on trips to Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, to Los Angeles, California, USA and to Miami, Florida, USA. He passed her off as his daughter on flight manifests, using her first name and his last name.
On May 26, 2023, Olson was found in a hotel in room in Manhattan with the girl who overdosed on the combination of ketamine, cocaine and Xanax. She was rushed to a hospital and survived.
Shortly after being arrested, Olson posted a $1 million bond and was released. While out on bail and being electronically monitored, he continued to message girls on social media.
On June 14, 2023, Olson attended a hearing at New York Supreme Court where he was denied bail. On the same day, Dwight Mortgage became aware of the criminal allegations against him and immediately terminated him.
Olson was charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance to a child, facilitating a sex offense with a controlled substance, endangering the welfare of a child, two counts of second-degree criminal sexual act, five counts of second-degree rape and seven counts of second-degree aggravated patronizing of a minor for prostitution. He is expected to face more charges.
