Married couple William Emilio Torres Gautier, 42, and Johana Ramos, 31, lived in Dover, York County, Pennsylvania, United States with their two children. Ramos’s mother is Lourdes Ramos Baez, 67.
On June 6, 2023, Ramos allegedly helped Gautier duct tape Baez’s head and face inside their house in Dover. He allegedly strangled his mother-in-law and stabbed her with scissors.
Later that day, Ramos asked a neighbor to call police. When Northern York County Regional Police Department officers responded to a call about a disturbance at Gautier and Ramos’s residence, they found the couple and their two children in the rear of the house.

While the officers were speaking with Gautier, Ramos stood behind him and mouthed the words, “Help me.” He attacked the officers when they engaged with her.
After a brief struggle, Gautier was arrested. In an upstairs bedroom, the officers found Baez lying face down and lifeless under a pile of clothes and other debris on the bedroom floor.
Baez suffered blunt force injuries to her head and neck. Her arms were tied behind her back with clothing and her right Achilles tendon had been sliced.
Coat hangers were wrapped around Baez’s neck. Duct tape covered her face including her eyes.
Gautier was arrested and booked into the York County Prison in Yorklyn, York County. He was charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault on law enforcement officers, terroristic threats, abuse of corpse, resisting arrest and criminal mischief.
On June 23, 2023, Northern York County Regional Police Department detectives arrested Ramos. She was charged with criminal homicide and criminal conspiracy to commit criminal homicide.
On July 7, 2023, Ramos will attend her preliminary hearing. Gautier’s preliminary hearing is on August 1, 2023.
