Who is Melissa Ingraham?

Melissa Ingraham is a Bahamian environmental scientist and beauty queen. Here are 13 more things about her:

She has a vast background in Caribbean species identification and research experience in marine and terrestrial ecosystems.
She has a passion for sustainability and tree planting.
She has long been passionate about the protection and conservation of the Bahamas and its environment.
She enjoys gardening, landscaping, swimming and dancing.
She loves cats and tacos.
She is originally from Nassau, New Providence, Bahamas.
From 2016 to 2018, she attended the University of Tampa in Tampa, Florida, United States where she earned her bachelor’s degree in environmental science.
In October 2017, she received her rescue diver certification from the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI).
From January 2020 to March 2022, she served as an Integrating Water, Land and Ecosystems Management in Caribbean Small Island Developing States (IWEco Project) manager at the Ministry of Housing and Environment of the Bahamas.
From January 2020 to June 2021, she participated in CariPhilAlliance’s Caribbean Tree Planting Project as the national leader of the Bahamas.
She was based in Long Island, Bahamas when she won Miss Bahamas Universe 2023.
In 2023, she represented the Bahamas in the 72nd edition of Miss Universe.
In 2024, she gave up her Miss Bahamas Universe 2023 title before the coronation of Miss Bahamas Universe 2024 Selvinique Wright.

In April 2020, she received her certificate in Principles for Reviewing Environmental Impact Assessments from Inter-American Development Bank.

On April 24, 2021, she was one of the environmentalists who participated in a beach clean up and coastline restoration exercise at Saunders Beach in Nassau.

On January 6, 2024, she resigned from her role as Miss Universe Bahamas 2023.
On January 8, 2024, Miss Universe Bahamas 2021 Chantel O’Brian released a statement supporting her decision to resign as Miss Universe Bahamas 2023.
