Jaime Christine Major, 39, worked as an assistant manager at a Burger King branch in Union, Union County, South Carolina, United States. She has been fired from the job.
On July 9, 2023, Union Police Department officers responded to reports of a disturbance at the Burger King branch where Major was working. It is unclear whether or not Major was involved in the disturbance.
The officers found two women threatening and swearing at restaurant staff. After refusing to calm down, the two women were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
On July 11, 2023, Burger King headquarters informed the Union Police Department that Major had been serving French fries from the trash can. She is accused of adding the fries from the trash to the container where freshly cooked potato chips are kept ready for serving.
A Burger King spokesperson told FOX Business that the allegations “do not align to the brand’s commitment to quality food and service and creating an exceptional Guest experience”. The spokesperson added that the franchisee of the restaurant is cooperating with the authorities and “will take appropriate action based on the findings”.
On July 17, 2023, Major was arrested and booked into the Union County Detention Center in Union. She was charged with malicious tampering with human food.
Bond for Major was set at $20,000. As of July 19, 2023, she is no longer being held at the Union County Detention Center.
