Both Terrance Bethel, 28, and Faron Newbold Jr., 29, are residents of Abaco, Bahamas. Lindsay Shirley Shiver, 36, and her husband Robert Grayson Shiver, 37, live in Thomasville, Thomas County, Georgia, United States with their three sons but they also have a house in the Bahamas.
It was in the Bahamas where Lindsay met Bethel. While still married to Robert, she was allegedly having an affair with Bethel.
Upon learning about the affair, Robert filed for divorce. He and Lindsay were due in the Thomas County Superior Court in Thomasville on July 20, 2023 each with counterclaims against the other.
On July 16, 2023, Bahamian police investigated Bethel, who allegedly broke into Grabber’s Bar and Grill in Guana Cay, Exuma, Bahamas. When they checked his phone, they found WhatsApp messages detailing a plot crafted by him, Lindsay and Newbold to kill Robert.
That day, Lindsay, Bethel and Newbold were arrested in Abaco. Shortly after their arrests, they were flown to Nassau, New Providence, Bahamas where they were jailed.
On July 28, 2023, Lindsay, Bethel and Newbold made their first appearance in court before Acting Chief Magistrate Roberto Reckley in Nassau. Ian Cargill, K. Melvin Munroe, Cassie Bethel and Alphonso Lewis Jr. are representing the three suspects, who were not required to enter a plea.
On October 31, 2023, Lindsay, Bethel and Newbold will return to court to receive a voluntary bill of indictment. They were denied bail after being charged with conspiring to murder Robert.
