Phu Huu Khuu, 51, of Fremont, Alameda County, California, United States is a badminton coach at Bintang Badminton in Milpitas, Santa Clara County, California. He is of Vietnamese descent.
Aside from Fremont, Khuu has lived in other parts of California including Los Altos, Sunnyvale, Elk Grove, Union City and Signal Hill. In 2001, he opened Bintang Badminton Academy in Sunnyvale.
“Asians, when competing with their Caucasian counterparts on football and basketball teams, tend to be smaller and less built,” Khuu told SFGATE in January 2006. “Badminton is an agile speed game that a bigger person would be bulky at.”
Khuu co-owns Bintang Badminton, which was incorporated on March 5, 2007. He and Stella Chun co-own Ps Hotchkiss, which was incorporated in California on December 13, 2016.
Aside from Milpitas, Bintang Badminton has five other locations in California which are Burlingame, Campbell, Dublin, San Carlos and Santa Clara. He allegedly had an inappropriate physical contact and sexual communication with a child, 14, at the facility’s location in Milpitas.
On July 13, 2023, the Milpitas Police Department opened an investigation into a relationship between Khuu and the child. When interviewed by the officers, the victim confirmed the relationship.
On July 25, 2023, Khuu was arrested in Santa Clara. He was charged with lewd and lascivious acts with a child younger than 14 and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail in San Jose, Santa Clara County.
