Matthew Edward Beebe, 37, of Sherrills Ford, Catawba County, North Carolina, United States is a former police officer in Mooresville, Iredell County, North Carolina.
In March 2012, Beebe became a Mooresville Police Department officer. Prior to this, he was an inspector with the North Carolina License and Theft Bureau and a jailer with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office.
On July 28, 2023, the Mooresville Police Department received criminal behavior allegations about Beebe and immediately began an investigation. He was suspended and placed paid administrative leave.
Beebe is accused of engaging in sexual misconduct with a minor several times. Some of the incidents are believed to have happened at his residence in Sherrills Ford.
According to the Mooresville Police Department, there is one known victim related to the investigation. Beebe is familiar with the victim, who is not a family member.
On August 1, 2023, the department obtained search and arrest warrants. Detectives found photos of child sexual abuse on Beebe’s phone and seized his computers at his residence in Sherrills Ford.
On August 2, 2023, Beebe was arrested on four counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. He was booked into the Iredell County Jail in Statesville, Iredell County.
On the same day, Beebe posted a $60,000 secured bond and was released. The Mooresville Police Department sent him notice of his termination.
