In December 2022, Melody bought a house in the Philippines. In March 2023, while she and Roby were in Germany where he was stationed for work, he started noticing that his coffee prepared by her tasted very bad.
In May 2023, while still in Germany, Roby set up camera in their residence which showed Melody pouring something into his coffee pot. On June 28, 2023, they returned to the U.S.
On July 1, 2023, Roby and Melody were placed into temporary housing at a hotel on Davis Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson. While there, he set up a camera again.
On July 5, 2023, the camera caught Melody walking to his coffee maker. She was pouring something into Roby’s water reservoir.

On July 6, 2023, Roby went to the Tucson Police Department and filed a report accusing Melody of trying to poison him by pouring bleach into his coffee maker. However, the video he showed the police officers does not clearly show what Melody was pouring into the coffee maker so he bought more cameras that looked like fire alarms.
On July 7, 2023, Roby installed the cameras in their laundry room, over the coffee maker and in the area between the laundry room and the coffee maker. On July 18, 2023, the cameras caught Melody taking bleach, pouring it into a container, walking over and pouring it into his coffee maker so he went back to the Tucson Police Department and showed the evidence.
Melody was arrested at their residence in Tucson and booked into the Pima County Jail in Tucson. Her bond was set at $250,000.
On August 4, 2023, Melody was arraigned. She pleaded not guilty to attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault and adding harmful substances to food, drink or medicine.
On September 6, 2023, Melody will be back in court. Roby believes she was trying to poison him to collect death benefits.
