Hardy Carroll Lloyd, 45, of Follansbee, Brooke County, West Virginia, United States is a self-proclaimed reverend of a white supremacy movement. He is a former resident of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, USA.
A convicted felon, Lloyd is prohibited from legally carrying a firearm. He is 5’11” tall and his registered weight is 250 pounds.
On May 20, 2022, the Texas Department of Public Safety announced a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information that would lead to Lloyd’s arrest. At the time, he was a resident of Pittsburgh.
Lloyd was wanted by authorities after posting a series of threatening comments online where he promised to carry a firearm onto the Texas State Capitol grounds in Austin, Travis County, Texas, USA. He also challenged any law enforcement officer who tries to take enforcement actions against him.
On October 27, 2018, truck driver Robert Gregory Bowers, then 46, of Baldwin, Allegheny County, fatally shot 11 people and wounded six others, including Holocaust survivors, at the Tree of Life-Or L’Simcha Congregation synagogue in Squirrel Hill, Pittsburgh. He was arrested and charged with 63 federal crimes.
On June 16, 2023, Bowers was found guilty on all federal counts. On August 3, 2023, he was sentenced to death by lethal injection.
During the federal hate crimes trial in Pittsburgh of Bowers, Lloyd made threatening social media posts, website comments and emails towards the jury and witnesses. Stickers, which directed people to the website containing Lloyd’s threats and anti-Semitic messages, were placed various areas in Pittsburgh.
“Remember, jurors, we WILL be watching and we WILL be taking pictures of ALL cars and people who leave the courthouse,” Lloyd wrote in one of his posts. On August 10, 2023, he was arrested without incident and charged with obstruction of the due administration of justice, transmitting threats in interstate and foreign commerce and witness tampering.
